We’re busy as always. Lots of math to learn.

Important reminder of something that should definitely not need a reminder: make sure to actually do unit tests when I assign them! They’re worth a lot of points and they’re on Khan Academy, which means they should be pretty easy points. You can still watch videos explaining the material and get hints, and you can take the test as many times as you want to get a better grade! Anybody not taking advantage of these easy points now is going to regret it at the end of the semester.

What we’re up to this week:

Calculus 3: We’re finishing up quadric surfaces, which included learning how to properly draw a Pringle, and we’re about to start on cylindrical and spherical coordinates.

Calculus 2: We’re embarking on the deadliest section in the first semester: volumes using cross sections.

Calculus 1: We’re applying the power rule and expanding it to polynomials. We’ll also explore derivatives of trigonometric functions.

7th Grade Scholar’s Prep: Solving one- and two-step equations, which is a review of 6th grade stuff, but we need to get that absolutely nailed down before we move on.

Precalculus: We’re relearning to graph things from the ground up, which is going to make the rest of the semester much easier.

Until next time,

Mr. Hermann
